From Steve O’Neill the Chairman

As Chairman of our U3A I am delighted to invite you to browse this website and explore what we do as an organisation of some 800 members in Shepway.
We are run by a dedicated committee of elected Trustees, all of whom are volunteers, and are jointly responsible for the running of the U3A. In addition, they carry out certain specific roles, according to their interests and expertise.
Of course, there are many other people who take on duties, also on a voluntary basis, without being on the Committee, but reporting to it. We are enormously grateful to them for what they do. These include: our Newsletter Editor, some 80 highly committed interest group leaders (interest groups form the heart of our organisation), and those who help with the Tin Tabernacle coffee mornings and members’ meetings. Outings, we have now outsourced to Viv Kenny of Real Socialising. We are truly a self-help organisation dependent on the enthusiasm and skills of our members.
We have simplified our contacts in this website to just a few, which you will find on our Contacts page. Please be assured we will try to deal with your enquiries as quickly as possible.
The U3A is a place where retired people can make friends, continue expanding their horizons, and enjoy life with similarly minded people. If you’re not a member, I hope you decide to join us.
