Would you be interested in writing stories and sharing them? We are a small, friendly Creative Writing group, and we’d welcome one or two new members. (David)
Have you ever read a book and thought, “I could have done that!”? You might well be able to, but our group isn't trying to get you into book-writing. We just offer an opportunity for people to explore their creative thinking and to discover and enjoy their writing skills. In friendly surroundings and over a cup of tea and biscuits, our group shares the short stories we’ve each written. (Mike)
In Writing Group 1, let your imagination take you anywhere during our 2-hour sessions. Share the other members’ imaginations as they take you into a world of romance, mystery, fantasy and humour… (Esme)
We usually have a title or a picture as a prompt for writing as our “Homework”, prior to each meeting. Then at each session, we read out the results of our homework. The length of each piece is typically around 800 words.
After a short refreshment break, we then do several 6-minute writing exercises, in response to new prompts.
We have recently published an “Anthology of Work 2025”, which is available on Amazon and contains our work from these sessions, written over the past year.
This Group is participating in the pilot trial whereby members can apply to join online - see details on the Self-Registration page.
